THE BOOK OF PSALMS
Into Your hand I commit my
How great is Your goodness,
which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have wrought
for those who take refuge in You.
I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"; and You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah. -- 32:5
You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah. -- 32:7
I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. -- 34:1
The angel of the LORD encamps
around those who fear Him, and rescues them. O taste and see that
the LORD is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; but they who seek the LORD shall not be in want of any good thing. -- 34:10
Keep your tongue from evil And your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. -- 34:13-14
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions
of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
Your lovingkindness, O LORD,
extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Delight yourself in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it. -- 37:4-5
The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and He delights in his way. -- 37:23
I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging bread. -- 37:25
I waited patiently for the
LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry.
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God. -- 42:1
Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls. -- 42:7
Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God. -- 42:11
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. -- 46:1
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, His holy mountain. Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion in the far north, the city of the great King. -- 48:1-2
But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for He will receive me. Selah. -- 49:15
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. -- 51:5
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. -- 51:7
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. -- 51:10
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation. -- 51:12
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. -- 51:17
Oh, that the salvation of
Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores His captive people,
let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere man do to me? -- 56:3-4
Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book? -- 56:8
You have delivered my soul from death, indeed my feet from stumbling, so that I may walk before God in the light of the living. -- 56:13
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let Your glory be above all the earth. -- 57:5
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His lovingkindness, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. For our heart rejoices in Him, because we trust in His holy name. -- 33:18-21
I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the LORD; the humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. -- 34:1-4
I waited patiently for the
LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out
of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon
a rock making my
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy dwelling places of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved. -- 46:1-5
O clap your hands, all peoples; shout to God with the voice of joy. For the LORD Most High is to be feared, a great King over all the earth. He subdues peoples under us and nations under our feet. He chooses our inheritance for us, the glory of Jacob whom He loves. Selah. God has ascended with a shout, the LORD, with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth; sing praises with a skillful psalm. God reigns over the nations, God sits on His holy throne. The princes of the people have assembled themselves as the people of the God of Abraham, for the shields of the earth belong to God; He is highly exalted. -- 47:1-9
Be gracious to me, O God,
according to Your lovingkindness; according to the greatness of Your compassion
blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and
cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin
is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned and done
what is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when
The fool has said in his heart,
"There is no God," they are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice;
I will give thanks to You,
O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to You among the nations.
For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens and Your truth to the clouds.
Be exalted above the heavens, O God; let Your glory be above all the earth.
