THE EASTERN
by Mike Blair
all the world I believed and
held as mine,
comes breaking in my hands
and every demon that I had
to deny is standing
in my face again
I cut the wound and I bleed
until it's real, but I'm not condemned
waters that were calm begin
to bring a storm alive
when a man who lost his innocence
can still look into your eyes,
I feel...
heal this land
walk the cities with wounded feet; in your shadow we begin
fill this void
children cry of broken spirits, begging to come in
take this weeping
laid before an eternal God, sheltered without pride
brace these faces
turning towards the son again, no resistance left to hide
I can see the evidence as
it's burned into my life
when a woman losing innocence
can still look into your eyes
I feel, I feel this...
I can see from the evidence
and I stand convinced that the Father's real
I can see from the evidence
and I stand convinced that the Spirit's real
I can see from the evidence
and I stand convinced that the Son is real
I can see, I can see,
I believe my God is real
and all the world I believed
and held as mine comes breaking, comes breaking
and every demon screaming
in my mind has seen defeat
I can see the evidence as
it's swept across the sky
when a child born in innocence
can still look into my eyes,
and I feel, I feel still...
